"Turn It
Up" is a story about one man's struggle to change his life.
Diamond (Pras Michel) is a naturally gifted musician, whose drive
to realize his dreams forces him to re-evaluate his life and
the people around him.
The story begins with the sudden death of Diamond's mother,
Rose. Soon his musician father (Vondie Curtis Hall) re-enters
his life looking for reconciliation. Diamond has more immediate
problems; his girlfriend Tamara (Tamala Jones) is pregnant, and
his childhood friend Gage (Ja Rule) has unwittingly drawn Diamond
into his life of drug running and violence.
Unsure of which path to follow, Diamond devotes himself to
his music and finds support and inspiration in unexpected places.
An emotionally charged film, "Turn It Up" is a contemporary
drama about urban life and the importance of following your dreams.
The film teams international hip hop star Prakazrel "Pras"
Michel (Mystery Men), with the
exciting new rapper Ja-Rule in his feature film debut. The film
is written and directed by Robert Adetuyi, a screenwriter making
his feature film directorial debut.
