Meryl Streep plays
real-life violin teacher Roberta Tzavaras, who led a group of
young students through their studies in Harlem, against odds
that included the closing of the music department in their school.
They eventually succeeded, playing well enough for them to perform
at Carnegie Hall. Based on the 1995 Oscar-nominated documentary
"Small Wonders".
