Small-time
mafioso Charlie (Harvey Keitel) and his friend Johnny Boy (Robert
De Niro) struggle to find their way in New York's Little Italy.
Charlie finds himself wrestling with his ambitions while trying
to deal with his relationship with Johnny Boy and his feelings
for Teresa (Amy Robinson), Johnny Boy's epileptic cousin. Johnny's
gambling debts have put his life in danger with a loan shark,
and finally and tragically, Charlie realizes that he cannot help
his friend -- nor find a means of resolving the moral conflicts
that haunt him.
