One lazy summer in Mercer, Montana (population 1,536
- but not for long), easygoing Clay Bidwell endures a comically
hellish odyssey. It all starts when Clay's best friend Earl doesn't
take too kindly to the news that Clay has been sleeping with
Earl's hot-to-trot wife. Things go from bad to worse, and Clay
soon has the unwanted attentions of both an FBI agent and an
elusive serial killer. The darkly comedic thriller marks the
feature-film directorial debut of David Dobkin, an award-winning
director of music videos and commercials. The film stars Joaquin
Phoenix ("All For One" and "8 Millimeter"),
Vince Vaughn ("Swingers" and "A Cool Dry Place"),
Janeane Garofalo ("The Matchmaker," "Cop Land"),
and Georgina Cates ("An Awfully Big Adventure"). Ridley
Scott and Chris Zarpas produce.
