David Lynch's
offbeat film uncovers the nasty underside of small-town America.
When Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle MacLachlan) finds a human ear in
a vacant field, he embarks on an investigation into the dark
world of psychopath Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper). While attempting
to solve this bizarre crime, he meets Dorothy (Isabella Rossellini),
a beautiful nightclub singer who's trapped in a violent relationship
with the sadistic Frank. Although he already has a sweet, adoring
girlfriend, Jeffrey becomes obsessed with mysterious Dorothy.
Academy Award Nominations: Best Director.
