The story of Judah Ben-Hur (Charlton Heston), a
Judean Prince, who as a galley slave saves the life of a Roman
nobleman. He is adopted by the Roman and becomes a respected
citizen and a famed chariot racer. Upon his return to Judea,
Ben-Hur witnesses the crucifixion of Jesus, and is inspired to
convert to Christianity. The chariot racing scene is often regarded
as one of the most exciting action sequences ever filmed. Based
on the 1880 novel by Lew Wallace. Academy Award® Nominations:
