Sixteen-year-old
avid rock fan William Miller (Patrick Fugit) lands an assignment
from Rolling Stone and legendary rock critic Lester Bangs to
accompany a fledgling band from Michigan called Stillwater (Billy
Crudup, Jason Lee, John Fedevich, Mark Kozelek) on their first
tour. As he becomes more involved with and influenced by the
band members, he loses his objectivity and is soon entangled
in the infamous 70's rock scene.
