 In deep space, the crew of a commercial
towing vehicle, the Nostromo, are interrupted in their journey
when their main computer intercepts a message of unknown origin
and awakens them to check it out. They make an unscheduled landing
on a bleak and uninhabited planet where they encounter a pulsating
organism which attaches itself to one of the crew member's helmets
and reproduces within his body. Academy Award Nominations: 2,
