Born into a boxing family, Jackie Kallen (Meg Ryan) knows a winner when she sees one. Even though Luther Shaw (Omar Epps) might be a little rough around the edges, as soon as she sees him in a fight, Jackie knows he's a champion in the raw. Determined to become the First Lady of the ring, she convinces Luther that he has the talent to fight his way out of the ghetto and becomes his manager. Then, together with veteran trainer Felix Reynolds (Charles S. Dutton), Jackie and Luther fight their way to the top of the brutal boxing world.
