 Based on the
nonfiction novel, The Orchid Thief, by Susan Orlean, which is
based upon the true story of a plant dealer named John Laroche
(Chris Cooper) who clones rare orchids and sells them to plant
collectors. Also, the movie tells of screenwriter Charlie Kaufman's
(Nicolas Cage) attempts to adapt the novel to the screen. Charlie
Kaufman also wrote Being John Malkovich.
